 hang Qing held his solo exhibition in Hangzhou Jiangnan Club last December . The works were all created from 2006-2008, included the use of crayons, water color and gouache. Xu Jiang, the dean of China Academy of Fine Arts and Ma Yun, the CEO of Alibaba web site, made speeches at the opening.
Chang Qing was born in 1965 in Chengdu, Si chuan provence. He graduated from the oil painting department of the China Academy of Art in 1989, ever since he has been teaching in the school. “I decided to use vibrant and colorful objects and some simple materials for my paintings, so that even children can comprehend my works. As a result, we have these paintings you see in front of you. These paintings comprise of two main parts – fruits and different types of animals such as the frog. Flowers, fruits and babies are all good friends of ours, and our inspiration; hence this led me to choose them as my main themes.” (Chang Qing)
Jiangnan Club, which covers an area of 10acres, is close to the tourist attractions surrounding the West Lake scenic spots. Ma Yun, Feng Gensheng, Shen Guojun, Song Weiping, Lu Weiding, Chen Tianqiao, Guo Guangchang and Ding Lei are the founders of Jiangnan Club. Artist Ai Weiwei helped design Jiangnan Club’s 7 black tile-roofed houses. The surrounding scenery together with the silence and atmosphere added to Chang Qing’s works which were distributed in the five buildings in Jiangnan Club.
